About this site
Hi Everyone,
As we're just getting started, if you've landed here you're likely either a friend, you're a bit nerdy and have gone down the rabbit hole of Construction and Climate Tech content or potentially both. Regardless of what leads you here we're extremely appreciative of you taking the time to listen to our thoughts.
First things first, who are we and what motivates us?
We're the Site Steer team, and Site Steer was birthed out of our drive to elevate the interesting work, challenges and overall importance of two industries which are so foundational to people's lives: Construction and Climate/Energy.
Between the two of us we more than 15 years of experience working in the construction and energy industry, across Europe, Asia and North America. We both started our careers working on the jobsite, before transitioning to other roles. Between the two of us, these included product development, data insights and sales for construction hardware and software. Between the two of us we have mix of techie and strategy skills, which allows us the ability to deep dive into these two sectors.
Come along for the journey to:
- Showcase the work of ambitious founders in the construction and climate tech space.
- Discuss policy changes and industry trends that are relevant for people in these two sectors
- Deep dives into as iconic projects, innovations or general news which we think is worth highlighting.
Why construction and climate tech?
At first glance, construction and climate technology may not seem to belong together. However, one of us started his career as a project manager at an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor. He built power transmission infrastructure for offshore wind farms. This experience showed us that while climate innovation is often based on foundational sciences like chemical processes, power electronics, and AI, its commercialization is closely tied to construction technology. Once these innovations reach the commercial stage, they involve building infrastructure that integrates these technologies. Therefore, we focus on technology that either makes these projects easier to build or makes them unique.
For now we'll have a free tier only, and to help organize the content we've defined the following tags for our content:
